Travelling for Thadingyut, Diwali or New Year? Check your visa first

Thadingyut, Diwali, Christmas and New Year are some of the busiest travel weeks of the year in Dubai. A few minutes of checking before you book can save you a missed flight or a fine.

Five checks before you fly

1. Passport validity. Make sure it stays valid well beyond your return date.
2. Residence visa expiry. If your visa expires while you are away, coming back gets complicated. Renew first if the date is close.
3. Time outside the UAE. Long stays abroad can affect a residence visa. If you plan to be away for months, ask us first.
4. Visit visa exit date. If you are on a visit visa, leave before it ends. Every extra day can mean a fine.
5. Open cases and fines. A pending application, an unpaid fine or an open labor case can cause problems at departure. Settle them before you travel.
